Good sking and a superb modern lift system all make Snowbasin a resort worth visiting. All runs from the top include blues so all intermediate skiiers will cope. Ride the Strawberry Express gondola up and take in the great views across to the great Salt Lake, the Strawberry Park traverse and down into the Park area which can be tricky in adverse weather. Even on a clear day the wind at the top can be very strong. The runs to the bottom are long and diverse and the hot shots can catch the John Paul Express then hop onto the tram up to the start hut and then try the 2002 Olympic downhill. They can also catch the tram back down if they have second thoughts. But what you must also see are the luxurious mountain restaurants, the Needles Lodge and the John Paul Lodge, quite the best we have dined in. More like a 4 star hotel, with marble restrooms and wonderful dining furniture complete with chanderliers, but surprisingly not as pricey as you might expect in such suroundings. Snowbasin has no lodging or shops (a small gift shop by the ticket office) the nearest being in Ogden and Huntsville some few miles away, but couple it with Powder Mountain and you will get some great and varied skiing. A ski holiday for the more adventurous who want to get away from the normal Utah destinations served by the main ski holiday agents.
