Ski Liechtenstein

Tiny Liechtenstein shares many of neighbouring Switzerland’s infrastructure assets but it also has two ski resorts – one for downhill skiing and boarding, one for Nordic sports, so it is possible to ski Liechtenstein.

Of the two Liechtenstein ski resorts the country’s only downhill ski centre, Malbun, located in the Sareiser Joch district within the Rätikon Alps has been open to visitors since the 1930s and installed its first ski lift in 1962. Probably its most famous guests were Prince Charles and Princess Diana arriving in the early 1980s so that the late Princess could learn to ski in peace before heading on to the favoured Royal choice of Klosters.

Malbun exists on a modest scale with a 400m vertical and four lifts serving runs up to 3km long, best suited to beginners and intermediates although there are some steep descents too and the uplift is impressive with quad and six seater chairs.

Nearby Steg is a major cross-country ski centre which does operate a single drag lift but is better known for staging major cross country race events each winter.
